Baldwinsville is a village in Onondaga County, New York, located on the Seneca River. This river flows through the village and its historic downtown area, and forms a section of the Erie Canal. The scenic Seneca River remains the heart of the community and offers many recreational areas including Mercer Park, Paper Mill Island, Community Park, Volunteer Park, South Shore East and West Trails and The Yevich Trail. The Beaver Lake Nature Center, just west of Baldwinsville, also offers a wide array of outdoor experiences including hiking, paddling, cross-country skiing and educational programming.
McHarrie Park on Canton Street also features the Shacksboro Schoolhouse Museum. The Seneca River is also home to the annual Seneca River Days festival, which occurs in June and features an "anything that floats" race. Each September, residents also enjoy the annual Baldwinsville Oktoberfest, a community festival that celebrates the village and surrounding community.
Baldwinsville was incorporated in 1848 as the Village of Baldwinsville, named after Dr. Jonas Baldwin.
Baldwinsville real estate is available throughout the area, which boasts a gently rolling landscape shaped by the glaciers of the Ice Age and filled with ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, marshes and swamps. Local forests are predominately made up of hardwoods, but nearly every tree species found in the northeastern U.S. is found near Baldwinsville. This makes wildlife abundant for nature lovers and fishermen appreciate the many varieties of fish found in the waters of Seneca River.
Families with children will enjoy the convenience of Baldwinsville real estate located within the Baldwinsville Central School District, which is the third largest suburban public school system in the county. Home of the Baldwinsville Bees, the district boasts five K-5 elementary schools (Elden, McNamara, Palmer, Reynolds and Van Buren), plus Ray Middle School for grades 6 and 7, Durgee Junior High School for grades 8 and 9 and Baker High School for grades 10 through 12.
Besides the available single family, multi-family and commercial Baldwinsville real estate for sale, you’ll also discover a rich architectural legacy that includes many surviving 19th century buildings. These structures were built by prominent architects like Charles Colton, Archimedes Russell, Ward Wellington Ward and Horatio Nelson White and are honored with National Register status.
